X, a game of YZ is a chess game with procedural rules and pieces.
I was never great at chess, because I never really studied it. I wondered what removing the weight of experience and years of study could do to a chess player, and thought about all the iterations that the piece movements probably went throughout its history. All of that would need procedural mahogany pieces, obviously. I wrote about it on my blog.
After beating an actual good chess player, I considered the experiment a success.
